Recently in the Northern part of the United States, there was very severe weather. Many farmers and ranchers lost hundreds to thousands of heads of cattle. For those who've never been around farming or ranching of any sort, livestock is a very big part of their livelihood.
I've been around livestock throughout my life. I spent time on my grandparents' farms. As a small child, my dad worked for a grain elevator, but also farmed on the side. We had cattle right outside my back door.
I also have friends who are from farming and ranching families and have spent time on their farms. There is so much work that goes into even the smallest farm or ranch. Losing livestock of any amount takes a very large bit out of these families income.
So for all of the farmers and ranchers in South Dakota, my heart goes out to you. Many prayers in the days to come.
*The cattle pictures added are obviously not the ones that have been being shown through the news. These pictures are ones I've taken at a farm in a neighboring town to where I live.
